While the love of this craft runs naturally in our blood (my mother is also a photography buff, owning a Yashica fixed lens SLR since mid-70s), and in the interest of learning and growing more in this hobby, these are the sites where I draw inspiration and motivation from:
Nature/Wildlife:
BrainGiants Photo by Charles D. MIller
I’ve been a follower of Charlie’s site since 2004/2005. This is one of my go-to site when I need inspiration and motivation to shoot. His pictures are NatGeo-material, even better. I’m yet to see someone match the sheer vibrance, sharpness, and the outstanding composition of his wildlife imagery. Too bad I was not able to meet him personally when I was in Minnesota.
Street Photography:
Chromasia by David J. Nightingale
One of the sites that inspired me take this hobby to another level; came across this site a little bit before BrainGiants. His street and travel photography is really something, made better with post-processing. Saw this site grew from a simple photoblog to a flourishing family(?) business. I’m currently enrolled to his (paid) Adobe Photoshop Tutorials.
Portraits/Travel Photography:
Manuel Libres Librodo Jr.
Perhaps the only local (Filipino) photographer I truly admire. His use of natural lighting, coupled with his signature style of tightly cropped portraits magnifies the model’s beauty. Top it off with his travel photography that really tells a story.
